I have been inspired by the work of Valeria Nascimento, an artist who works with porcelain, creating the most fascinating, delicate and beautiful wall installations. I saw her work at the Woolff Gallery in London and was taken aback by how delicate it was and by its beauty. Valeria was born in Brazil and worked as an architect. She was introduced to porcelain and now works solely with it. "My inspiration is drawn mostly form the natural world and porcelain has the smoothness and malleability that I need to create new shapes, manipulating it to appear in some cases defiantly weightless. My work is about repetitive sequencing with separate elements to form a cohesive sculptural group."
